Christmas Table

Christmas is a wonderful time to unleash your creative side. I was so inspired by Martin Luther’s Christmas Eve starry sky (you can read about it in my previous post – Decorating for the Christmas holidays), which he brought home in the form of a candle lit Christmas tree, that I wanted to add a starry sparkle to my own table this year!

I bought a beautiful white tablecloth with a silver and gold pattern from Woolworths.

I then just had to get their golden rimmed champagne and water glasses to match. A Christmas present from me to me!

I used my antique silver crockery, which I bought years ago at Portobello road market in London. White linen napkins were folded in a casual triangle.

For interest sake, I used different heights across the table but did not use anything that stops you seeing the person opposite you. Candles are good as they’re narrow and so are tea lights because they’re low. I used copper, silver and white non drip candles which I bought from Petals and Roots. I put them in my antique silver and glass candle holders. As it was my main decoration for the table, I thought the more the merrier!

I wanted to add a touch of colour to pull the whole setting together. Since the table was set in our garden, green was an obvious choice and to me, red is just so Christmas, so I added fresh berries also from Petals and Roots.

For the final touch and to add a romantic ambience, Chris added twinkling lights around the trees in the background.
